Party Doesn’t Reach Minimum

Q: “What if the Scentsy party doesn’t reach minimum 200 PRV?”

Scentsy party minimumA: Erase that from your vocabulary. If someone agrees to host a party, they are agreeing that they will get a minimum of 200 PRV. They are agreeing that to get the host rewards, they will do their part in inviting guests, and promoting the online party link and talking with people to get the orders.
 
It really isn’t hard to achieve the minimum amount IF the host and the consultant work together. People know more people than they think. You’d be amazed at how many people will share a link if you just ASK them. Whether they themselves buy or not, most will share your link on at least one of their social media platforms. Someone can take a book to work to collect orders. Someone will ask them mom, etc.

What I sometimes see happen when parties have few orders is because of the way the invitation to host was originally suggested to the host. The consultant tries to get hosts who will do HER a favor by hosting a party. That’s backwards. When this happens, the host isn’t vested and won’t hustle to get orders. She’ll let the consultant do all the work.

Whereas the consultant’s job is to facilitate and help the host get the orders. The consultant serves as a coach, guide, mentor to help the host achieve her goal. That’s where good host coaching and follow-up is vital.
 
Decide and commit that the party WILL reach a minimum 200 PRV. You just may need to get out of your comfort zone to make it happen.

p.s. If the party doesn’t reach the minimum you can’t close it out as a party. They’re just individual orders at that point so no host rewards are available. You can leave it open until it reaches 200 or enter them separately as individual orders and cancel the party.

A: Yes it is possible, but honestly, it’ll take a little hustle to reach your goal. I’ve been with Scentsy over 10 years and I have not done one party, not online and not in person. I did many over the 29 years I’ve been in Direct Sales, however I chose to only work Scentsy online and cash and carry to a handful of locals.

If you are active on social media and are adding fresh content to a blog or youtube channel you can get a decent amount of traffic to your website (webstore). Some consultants do mainly ‘basket parties’ which is essentially a catalog party with scent samples and sometimes a warmer so that the host can experience Scentsy. They do them mainly through the mail to hosts across the country. You can be creative – doing online parties, vendor events, set up displays in local businesses, basket parties, and one on one cash and carry or online sales. Embrace the Millennials

Dr. Derick Hulme Alma CollegeRecently Scentsy has had a big push on embracing the millennials, meeting them where they are. That means doing business differently than we used to in the olden days.

I’m over 50 years old, so I can say this: I don’t always get the millennials.

This weekend I had an opportunity to hear Dr. Derick “Sandy” Hulme speak at Alma College. He was sharing successes of Alma students who went on to change the world and make a difference. One example he shared was how a group of college students did research and made recommendations to the U.N. (as in the real United Nations).

One of the students asked him how it was that a group of college kids could figure out a solution, but all the old folks (40 & 50 year olds) could not. He responded:

“Old folks can’t figure it out because they’re stuck remembering all the things that didn’t work”

Should I Change My Scentsy Name?

how to change my scentsyQ: I’m thinking about changing my team name and/or URL to my Scentsy website. What do you think?

A: Before deciding if it’s a good or bad idea, there are a couple of factors you should consider:

  1. Have you already ordered marketing collateral – business cards, product labels, ink stamps with your current name/URL? If so, have you distributed them far and wide?
  2. How long have you had your current name/URL? If you’ve had it for a long time, have you marketed it heavily online? Will customers get dead links if they find you online?
  3. Dead links – social media links are easy enough to change. But do you have a blog, videos or other medium that may not be as easy to change?
  4. WHY do you want to change it? If you just don’t like it, think long and hard before changing it. If it is not serving you well, if you aren’t currently getting much traffic from it, if you are evolving and think a new name or URL will serve you better, then by all means, go for it.

Life is dynamic, and so should your business be. We have to be flexible and change if it’s a change for the good. If it’s a change just for the sake of change, it can hurt your business.

Consider wisely; then act accordingly.
