I’m sure you know someone who could use this:

Scentsy Abbreviations
Starting a new Scentsy wickless business can be overwhelming. Add a bowlful of acronyms and no wonder new consultants are lost and confused. Hopefully this list of abbreviations and acronyms will help you better understand our lingo. Some have further explanations and others are more self explanatory.
I am certain there are others that I may have missed. Feel free to add to this list, and I will continue to do the same as we increase our Scentsy alphabet!
AFL: Active Front Line -A frontline consultant would include any consultants in the first level of a Consultant’s downline. These are the Consultants you personally recruit. To be Active means you have 200 or more PRV for the month. Everyone starts each month inactive. So an AFL would be a consultant you personally recruit who has 200 PRV for a calendar month.
APO/FPO: Military Mail Addresses. Army or Air Force use the city abbreviation APO [Army Post Office or Air (Force) Post Office], while Navy, Marine Corps and the Coast Guard use the city abbreviation FPO (Fleet Post Office).BBMB: Bring Back My Bar – A promotion started in July 2010 which offered 20 previously retired/discontinued scents for one month only.
CC: Certified Consultant
CC: Product code for our Scent Circles (formerly known as Car Candles)
CC: Campus Collection (University warmers)

PI: Plug-In warmer
P&P: Policies and Procedures. Now referred to as Scentsy Standards. P&P is an obsolete term but still widely used.
PRV: Personal Retail Volume – The point value of commissionable products you sell. With the exception of liIncensed and charity products and Host Rewards, in the United States one point in PRV equals $1 (USD) in retail sales. Countries outside the US have to factor in a peg rate so the 1:1 ratio doesn’t work there. Consultants earn kess PRV on all licensed products, such as Harry Potter and NFL Warmers.
PWS: Personal Website – When you join Scentsy, you get a FREE three-month subscription to your own Personal Website (PWS), which will help you promote your business, collect online orders, announce online parties, and recruit new Consultants. You can maintain your PWS for a subscription fee of $10 (USD) per month after the first three months.
PWV: Personal Wholesale Volume – 75% of the point value of commissionable products that you sell. PRV x 75% = PWV.

Book Review: One Smart Cookie
I’m always looking for books to read that will help my own business. I found one that was published over 20 years ago. It is an easy read and has some unexpected low hanging fruit (simple ah-ha moments) that will help any start-up business owner or anyone who needs a little inspiration to recharge an existing business.
One Smart Cookie: How a Housewife’s Chocolate Chip Recipe Turned into a Multimillion-Dollar Business: The Story of Mrs. Fields Cookies by Debbi Fields
This book was published in 1987 and the content is still relevant today. Whether a direct sales consultant, freelancer, WAHM-wannabe or any other entrepreneur this book will inspire you; and is sprinkled with humor. Debbi was a stay at home wife and mom who took her passion to build a thriving business doing what she loved.
Mrs. Fields Cookies is a true success stories. The book talks about her guiding principles and some the struggles she encountered starting her business. She rejected conventional advice with regard to marketing and promotion. Debbi and her husband focused first on making a spectacular cookie, then coupled it with sales staff training and customer service to become a multi-million dollar franchise.
If you’re thinking of starting a business or just needing some motivation to relaunch your existing business, I highly recommend you grab a copy of this book.

I’m Calling False Advertising on That One!
What happened to authentic marketing in direct sales?
Wait, before you throw rotten tomatoes at me, I absolutely know much of direct sales advertising and marketing IS accurate and authentic. If you are ethically representing your company then you’re doing the right thing and I’m not referring to you.
What I’m referring to are the rogue independent consultants who are promoting the benefits of their products online so as to reflect a more positive experience than what may be the actual situation. I tend to see it more often with consultants who represent a product line specific to health and beauty.
I’m not going to call anyone out; those who do it know who they are. And if they think they’re getting one over on us, it’s only temporary for those who fall for it. Once they shell out hard earned money and find they are not getting the results you showed then you’ve lost a customer and gained more bad press.
I’m Calling BS
Allow me to give an example of what I have been seeing more and more of lately. A consultant representing “Company X” claims she has a product that will drastically grow hair on your head. She even shows her own results in a before and after photo of how much her lovely locks grew in just two short weeks. It’s amazing I tell ya! It’s practically unheard of!
