Dear Scentsy Consultant: I have been seeing more and more requests online for product sales between consultants lately, so… I want to discuss why you should NOT purchase inventory from a consultant or previous consultant.
Most often the consultant trying to sell the inventory either just keep buying in order to get team bonuses or is about to quit, be cancelled, or has joined a different DS business and is slowly phasing out of Scentsy.
First off, inventory is meant to be sold TO CUSTOMERS or consumed for personal use. Many times you THINK you are getting a deal because of the way it is presented to you. UNLESS you are getting it at $3.13 a bar, you are not getting a deal.
Most often the consultant bought their bars as a 6-pack @ $25 and probably put it in as a $200 PRV order to get the free shipping and host items. So the total I am showing you below is the MAXIMUM you should pay unless it is something you have been searching for and can no longer get yourself.
Do the Math
They received $6.25 in commission for the purchase of this already (new total that the consultant has invested in the 6pack is $18.75). $18.75 / 6 = $3.13. Anything you pay above this is PROFIT for the selling consultant. You are not a buying customer! You are a consultant helping them unload inventory. They are not doing you a favor, you are doing them one. Think about this the next time you ask someone to “Send you a list of what they have.”
Also, remember that you now have to be sure that you have at least 200 PRV turned in one month out of every three. Do you want to jeopardize your own business by putting your own money in to buy someone else’s inventory or do you want to help your own business and PRV?
Sketchy Quality
You also cannot be certain of the quality. Are you 100% sure it’s new and not re-poured? Is it from the home of a smoker who smokes inside? Has it been kept out of the sunlight in a temperature controlled environment? How are the labels? Are there any personal labels over the Scentsy labels? Are you paying shipping charges on top of that?
We have been seeing a surge of past consultants unloading their inventory on Facebook, craigslist, and ebay. I just want to make sure that you THINK about it before you get sucked in and purchase. You are a consultant, NOT a customer. Stay true and loyal to your own consultant – YOU , unless they have something you just HAVE TO HAVE and cannot purchase yourself any longer.

Iss there a policy regarding selling to other consultants? For instance, if a consultant purchased something in a “flash sale” or any sale for that matter, if a fellow consultant would like to buy an item that was purchased during sale, is there a policy that it has to be sold for what the consultant paid for it?

Hi Amy,
Yes there is. It’s spelled out in more detail in the COMPLIANCE GUIDE in your workstation. That document elaborates more than what is in the STANDARDS.
